Donations Needed for the OAR Garage Sale!

We are behind in donations for the OAR Garage Sale, to be held June 24-26 in our parking lot. Contact Beth Muccillo (bjohnston@fuse.net or 513-575-1771) to donate items and/or to volunteer before and during the sale.  Help with pricing items is needed now.  Donations can be brought to Beth's house in Milford, or to storage space in Norwood.  Pickup is available for furniture and other large donations. Click here for a list of accepted items. (Please:  no clothes, candles or outdated textbooks and manuals.) Set-up will begin Wed., June 22.  Sale hours are 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday.

Look for us on the FOX19 Morning News

OAR representatives will be on Channel 19 with meteorologist Katy Morgan on May 13 to talk about the Kitten Shower Open House & Supply Drive coming up two days later. Tune in during the 8:30-9:30 a.m. hour.  (Yes, we’ll have kittens with us.) Katy, who emceed our first A”cat”emy Awards in February, did a great job handling squirmy Nancy the kitten during OAR’s first TV appearance with her! Watch it again:  http://tinyurl.com/3t9wy5r

Happy Hour Fundraiser at Arnie's on the Levee, May 13th

OAR returns to Arnie's on the Levee in Newport for a Cash for Cats Cock-“tail'” Happy Hour, 5-9 p.m. May 13. For a $10 donation, you will get a refillable cup for domestic beer. We’ll also sell split-the-pot chances and raffle tickets for gift baskets. Stop by before heading to the ballpark, or stick around to watch the Reds vs. Cards on TV. More info...

Kitten Shower Open House & Supply Drive, May 15th

Ohio Alleycat Resource is throwing a kitten shower during its Spring Open House from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15th. You’re encouraged to bring toys and other items for the fur babies and for OAR's resource center.

Check our our main 2011 OAR Wish List below! We’ll also be registered at Walmart stores and at Walmart.com / View Walmart.com Wish List

It’s also fine to just come by to coo over the little ones and give love to our adult cats, too. We’ll have a raffle and refreshments. Volunteers are needed to supply food and work at the event. Contact bjohnston@fuse.net or call 513-575-1771.

Spay/neuter specials for kittens, moms and N.Ky.

In conjunction with the kitten shower, the OAR clinic is having a $10-off special on kitten spay/neuter May 10-13.  The offer is for kittens under 5 months or 5 pounds.  (The kitten must be at least 8 weeks and 2.2 pounds.) Bring in the mother at the same time, and she also can be fixed for $10 off.  Did you know that a female cat can go into heat and become pregnant at as young as 5 months? For male cats, early neutering eliminates or greatly decreases unwanted behaviors such as roaming, urine marking, fighting and aggression. Call 513-871-0185 for an appointment.

  • This just in:  Call now for our Cinco de Meow special.  On May 5, only, surgery plus rabies vaccine is $25.
  • A $10 surgery-rabies vaccine offer continues for Northern Kentucky residents.  The Neuterville Express transport has expanded its pickup areas to Highland Heights and Burlington, with more areas coming soon. Call the clinic number or see NeutervilleExpress.com for dates and times.

Revised OAR Mission Statement

OAR’s board adopted a revised mission statement last month to better capture what we do:

“Ohio Alleycat Resource & Spay/Neuter Clinic is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to enrich the lives of cats and communities in Greater Cincinnati by providing low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter services for ferals, strays and pets; offering TNR (trap-neuter-return) and other outreach programs; and running a small, no-kill adoption center dedicated to finding loving homes.”

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, donors, clients, adopters and others who help us achieve our goals.

Welcome New Board Members

Three volunteers - Melissa McNally, Dave Sageser and Kathy Schwartz - are now on the board of Ohio Alleycat Resource & Spay/Neuter Clinic. They join Liz Johnson (director), George Jonson, Emily Moore and Kevin Nester.  Read the new members' bios.

Adoption Spotlight: The Queen Bree

It's no wonder that gorgeous Bree was named queen of the rescue at OAR's Furry Valentine Party. This beauty, only 2, was rescued from behind a Lebanon apartment complex with two kittens.  She likely was an abandoned pet, but it's beyond us how anyone could leave sweet Bree behind. She's affectionate, curious and playful.  Bree does well with other cats, too. She'd love to be the queen of your castle!

  • You can provide a forever home, too. See photos and descriptions of our available cats and kittens, then fill out an adoption questionnaire.
  • Meet our residents during OAR's open hours noon-2 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.
  • We also regularly have cats at the Oakely PetSmart, 3401 Alamo Ave., with OAR volunteers there from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. the first Saturday of each month.
